Step 2: Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives

Once you have passed the one-day health and safety course, you will need to book your CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test for Operatives. This test will need to be completed at a Pearson Professional Centre. There are over 100 test centres to choose from, so rest assured you’ll likely find one near your home.

Step 3: Apply for the Card

Visit the CSCS website or contact the CSCS Customer Service Centre on 0344 994 4777 (8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday) to apply for a CSCS Labourer Card.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee

Once you have completed the one-day health and safety course and passed the CITB Operatives test, the next step is to pay the application fee which is £36.

Step 5: Receive Your CSCS Card

Once your application is approved, you will receive your CSCS Labourer Card in a few days, the time can vary depending on how you applied for it. We recommend you apply online or over the phone if you want your card within 5 working days.

Once your card arrives, carry it with you at all times while working on construction sites to demonstrate your competence and eligibility for your job role.
